Our Mission

At Nyano Kaakh, our mission is to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for the most vulnerable children. We are dedicated to providing them with a loving home where they feel valued and secure, access to quality education that opens doors for their future, and nutritious meals that support their physical and mental well-being. Beyond meeting immediate needs, we focus on emotional care and guidance, helping each child build confidence, resilience, and a sense of self-worth.

Our commitment extends to marginalized members of the community, including widowed women and the elderly, who often face social and economic challenges. We strive to empower them with opportunities for independence, dignity, and meaningful participation in society. By supporting both the young and the vulnerable adults in their lives, we work to strengthen families and communities as a whole.

At the heart of Nyano Kaakh is a belief in hope, equality, and opportunity. Every action we take is guided by the principle that every life matters, and that with love, support, and care, every person can thrive. We aim to create lasting impact, not only by meeting needs today but by building a foundation for a brighter, more equitable future for generations to come.

Our vision

Our vision is a world where every child matters—where no child is left behind, and every vulnerable individual is given the chance to thrive, dream, and contribute to a brighter, compassionate society.

Background

Nyano Kaakh Sewa Samaj is a non-profit, non-governmental organization in Nepal committed to giving the most vulnerable children a second chance at life. It was born out of compassion, personal experience, and a deep understanding of the struggles faced by children who are left behind by society.
The name “Nyano Kaakh” means “a warm lap”—a place of comfort, safety, and unconditional love. Just as a mother’s lap is the first home for a child, Nyano Kaakh was envisioned to be a home for those who have lost theirs. It represents more than just shelter—it is a promise that every child, no matter how difficult their past, deserves to feel protected, valued, and loved.
The organization was officially registered at the Kathmandu CDO office on April 6, 2022, and with the Social Welfare Council on April 11, 2022. However, the dream began long before the paperwork—rooted in the founder’s own upbringing in Kalikot, one of the most remote and underdeveloped districts in Nepal. Growing up in a place where poverty, illiteracy, and lack of opportunities were part of daily life, the founder understood first-hand what it meant to grow up without resources or support.
While many children from such backgrounds never get the opportunity to escape the cycle of hardship, Nyano Kaakh was established to change that narrative. On June 12, 2022, the organization expanded to Kalikot, recognizing the urgent need for care and support there. By September 7, 2022, the orphanage in Kalikot officially opened its doors—welcoming orphaned and abandoned children into a loving, family-like environment.
From the very beginning, Nyano Kaakh has focused on holistic care—not just providing food and shelter, but also education, emotional support, and life skills to help children grow into confident, independent adults. The organization ensures that every child receives:
Safe shelter – a place they can truly call home.
Nutritious food – to fight malnutrition and support healthy growth.
Quality education – the key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Emotional and mental support – to help heal from trauma and build self-esteem.
But Nyano Kaakh’s vision goes beyond just children’s care. The long-term mission includes:
Free education programs for underprivileged children in the community.
Empowerment initiatives for widowed women, giving them skills and opportunities to become self-reliant.
An old age home for elderly people who have no family or place to stay—ensuring they, too, can live with dignity.

Running Nyano Kaakh has not been without challenges. The organization operates with limited resources, relying heavily on donations, volunteers, and the goodwill of supporters. Financial constraints often mean making tough choices, and yet, the spirit of Nyano Kaakh remains unshaken. Every smile from a child, every step forward in their education, and every story of transformation keeps the mission alive.
Nyano Kaakh is not just an organization—it is a movement of hope. It is proof that one small initiative, driven by love and determination, can begin to change an entire community. Every child who walks through its doors is given not only the essentials to survive but also the wings to dream and the tools to achieve those dreams.

In a world where the most vulnerable are often forgotten, Nyano Kaakh stands as a warm lap, open arms, and a home filled with love—building a future where every child matters.
